Contar puntadas

Contar ovejas, contar puntadas.

A series of wool embroideries made to relieve the stress of spending sleepless nights.

Count sheep, count stitches.

Keeping my hands and mind busy with something mechanical and repetitive relaxes and calms me.

Accompany the breath with the movement of the hands and with my mind counting each of the stitches I make.

A spiral mantra.

Everything related to sheep and wool interests me. After starting to embroider this series, I found an interesting documentation where I could observe the movements of the herds in their movements from the sky, from a bird's eye view or from a drone. Moving images have a hypnotizing relaxing effect. I discovered then that the drones are becoming companions of some shepherds who help in their surveillance tasks and redirect the cattle on their routes.

A new field is opened in grazing by drones.

I wonder: Will the conventional figure of the shepherd and his dog as we know it disappear? Will the shepherd become a person who will occupy a small office from where he visualizes his sheep on the computer screen, from where he will give the orders to mark the path and carry out the long and hard journeys?
