Kontu Kontari

Es una colaboración entre dos artistas, mujeres, textileras y artesanas. 

Presentamos con un lenguaje plástico propio, contemporáneo, la herencia, el poso que han dejado unas materias primas locales, trabajándolas y presentándolas de forma diferente para lo que estaban destinadas.


La lana latxa y carranzana hilada, el lino y la hoja de la mazorca de maíz se combinan, mezclan y dialogan en dos piezas con existencia y carácter propio pero que presentamos unidas por esa narrativa material y con los mismos intereses e intenciones.

Arte, artesanía, lo industrial, lo hecho a mano, lo trenzado y lo insertado coexisten  con el mismo nivel de importancia estética e histórica.


No hay intención de realizar avituallamiento con la lana ni con el lino, tampoco alfombras, escobas o rellenos de colchón con la hoja de la mazorca de maíz.


Nos interesan las técnicas ligadas al aprovechamiento de materiales o reciclaje y el trabajo textil realizado por las mujeres.

-El uso del trenzado de la hoja de maíz recupera una técnica ancestral olvidada.
-La técnica de mechones para el aprovechamiento o reciclaje de lanas o incluso tiras de trapos viejos para la confección de alfombras. Una técnica manual que con el tiempo se ha mecanizado: tufting.

Con esta obra participamos en la convocatoria expositiva de HILAKU- Narrativas personales 2022, en el Centro Joaquín Roncal en Zaragoza. Una exposición organizada por el colectivo Mottainai ZGZ - Kontu kontari -

Materiales: lana latxa hilada a mano, lana carranzana hilada industrialmente, lino industrial hoja de mazorca de maíz, barbas de maíz, lienzo como soporte, bastidor de DM y madera.

Técnica mixta: Tufting, trenzado, cosido, pegado, montaje sobre bastidor.

Dimensiones:
Pieza superior: 90 x 90 cm.

Pieza inferior: 90 x 90 cm. + 3 m.  de hoja de maíz trenzada

HILAKU-Narrativas Personales, Mottainai ZGZ, Zaragoza 4 noviembre al 4 diciembre 2022

It is a collaboration between two artists, women, textile makers and craftswomen. 

We present, with our own contemporary plastic language, the inheritance, the legacy left by local raw materials, working them and presenting them in a different way for what they were intended.


The spun latxa and carranzana wool, the linen and the corn husk combine, mix and dialogue in two pieces with their own existence and character but which we present united by this material narrative and with the same interests and intentions.

Art, craft, industrial, handmade, braided and inserted coexist with the same level of aesthetic and historical importance.


There is no intention to make supplies from wool or linen, nor carpets, brooms or mattress stuffing from corn husks.

We are interested in the techniques linked to the use of materials or recycling and the textile work carried out by women.

-The use of corn leaf plaiting recovers a forgotten ancestral technique.

-The tufting technique for the use or recycling of wool or even strips of old rags for making rugs. A manual technique that has become mechanised over time: tufting.

Mixed technique: Tufting, braiding, sewing, gluing, mounting on frame.

Upper piece: 90 x 90 cm.

Lower piece: 90 x 90 cm. + 3 m. of braided corn husk

Artesana y artista textil.

Recuperadora de una técnica ancestral autóctona del trenzado de las hojas de la mazorca de maíz en Euskal Herria. Desde su inicio hasta el presente ha participado en numerosos eventos profesionales donde comercializa su producción, realiza talleres, exposiciones individuales y colectivas junto a artistas y artesanos.

Craftswoman and textile artist.

She has recovered an ancestral native technique of braiding the leaves of corn cobs in the Basque Country. From the beginning to the present she has participated in numerous professional events where she markets her production, holds workshops, individual and collective exhibitions together with artists and artisans.
